Omaha Cricket Association Won by 69 runs
Match report
CHALLENGERS won the toss and elected to bowl first.
With weather(due) likely to support the bowlers, CHALLENGERS having one of the most feared bowling line up in the league has elected to bowl first to put LCC on backfoot. LCC entrusted their veteran openers in Md Amin(Nipu) and Sudhir to open the innings. Nipu started the innings steadily giving respect to good balls and poaching onto loose balls. Sudhir lost his wicket to gowtham's full pitched out swinging delivery. In came karthik at 1 down and played with good composure presenting the full face of the blade with nice flicks and cuts and scored 8(14), if not for miscommunication while running between the wickets he was well set for long innings. Joe came in and played couple of nice straight/cover drives but lost his wicket to Avinash with his wonderfully disguised slower ball. At this point of time though LCC lost couple of wickets LCC was never on the back foot because of the pace at which they were getting runs. Vivek came in at the fall of 3rd wicket and tried to stabilise the innings by not going for big shots. On the other end Nipu lost his wicket to Satish caught by vijay yajjala to an excellent catch but he did his part by seeing off the new ball for next batsmen to come in. Prithvi joined vivek and paced up the innings by scoring 15(17) with two huge sixes, while going for big shot top edged to Gowtham off yogesh. Vijay M has been in a great touch off late with the platform setup for his blistering knock, he scored quick 12(11) he perished top edging too to Gowtham off Avinash bowling. With the score on 124 for 6 in 21 overs, it was time for some rampi's fireworks but he lost his wicket to again a wonderfully disguised slower ball from avinash. At the other end vivek has been calmly accumulating runs with 1's and 2's, Venkat 0(1) went in next but lost his wicket off the first ball to bhaskar playing across to a straight delivery. Naren joined in and seems to continue from where he has left in his last innings with straight bat drives and rotating the strike well giving vivek as much strike as possible. Vivek switched his gears at the right time and went into boundary hitting mode. Vivek scored 64(55), Naren 9(8). In the end batting first LCC scored 173 for 8 in 25 overs. Top scorers Vivek Sharma (64 runs /4 fours/2 sixes) and Md Amin(Nipu).
CHALLENGERS chasing 174 has sent in their stead heads in Avinash and Hemanth to face new ball off Naren and Rampi. As expected both of them started bang on with excellent line and length and tied down the batsman from getting runs. With runs hard to come by hemanth went for a suicidal run against the powerful arm of prithvi which resulted in accurate throw to keeper(Karthik) for runout. Then came in CHALLENGERS explosive batman Satish and tried to up the scoring rate with some lovely lofted shots. Prithvi and Shree started bowling accurately to the field given to them and put the pressure back on the batsman which resulted in satish's wicket for prithvi off an excellent catch by Nipu in deep mid wicket. Shree on the other end started off with his inswinging balls and put up a great show by taking 4 wickets, Which could have easily resulted in first hat trick of the league. Avnish kept on losing his partners but tried to steady the innings. He scored 47(63) and eventually lost his wicket to one of his own tricks(slower ball) off venkat's bowling which left him stranded in the middle of the pitch for an easy stumping for karthik. LCC's new found bowling star Joe was introduced from the other end. He took 2 wickets to finish of the innings of CHALLENGERS for 104 in 21 overs.
All in all it was a great team performance for LCC against a tough opponents.
MOM: Shared between ShreeMohan and Vivek Sharma. Shree for taking 4 wickets in 4 overs for 22 runs and Vivek for scoring 64 in 55 balls.
