5th Annual OCA T16 Summer Blast - Week 2

OCA T16 Cricket Summer Blast Tournament kicked off this Saturday July 14th on a very hot summer day. OCA is thankful to our sponsors for this tourney!!!! 5th Annual OCA T16 Summer Blast - Week 1

This Clinic is our 5th of 14 community centers. Around 45 kids and 2 staff members attended OYCA's clinic. 4 teams were formed to play 2 matches and OYCA Presented them a free USYCA cricket set.

2012 Benson CC Recs Kids Cricket Clinic( 5th of 14 comm ctrs) - June 11th

Honorable Mayor of Omaha Jim Suttle made his gracious presence and inaugurated the tournament throwing the first pitch to kick off OCA T16 Summer blast 2012.

2012 OCA T16 SUMMER BLAST - OPENING CEREMONY

45 kids and 2 staff members participated. OYCA had demonstrated fundamentals via 10 minute power point presentation. later they were divided in to 2 groups, U8 and U12 and played couple of outdoor matches. The Tee-ballers had a blast!

2012 Florence CC Recs kids Cricket clinic ( 9th of 14 comm ctrs)- June 18th

About 128 kids and 7 staff members participated in the clinic. A small sized cricket play area was set up right in front of 10 minute power point presentation to explain the basic fundamentals, the differences & similarities between baseball and cricket. OYCA insisted that the batter's business is with the line not with the base/sticks to avoid kids sliding on to the sticks or tagging the base/sticks with the legs knocking them. Kids caught it fast and led with the bats to the crease.

2012 Saddlebrook CC Recs kids cricket clinic (8th of 14 comm ctrs)- June 15th

OCA conducted a cricket clinic for 20 adults from Rotary club on June 13th. Rotary Club is a service club with over 34000 clubs and 1.2 million members worldwide conducting several social activities for kids and the needy. OYCA is actively planning to partner up and help with their service goals towards children's events.

This Clinic is our 7th of 14 community centers. Around 50 kids, 3 staff members participated. A small sized cricket play area was set up right in front of 10 minute power point presentation to explain the basic fundamentals and differences and similarities between baseball and cricket. 4 teams were formed to play 2 matches and kids had a blast. The community center received a free OYCA/USYCA cricket set.

2012 Pipal CC Recs kids cricket Clinic (7th of 14 comm strs)- June 13th

This clinic is our 6th of 14 community centers. 28 kids, 2 staff members and 1 parent participated enthusiastically in OYCA's cricket clinic. 3 teams were formed,2 softball playing staff members and the parent were included in the teams and they promised that they will put our USYCA free cricket set to good use.

2012 Columbus CC Recs Kids Cricket Clinic( 6th of 14 community centers)- June 12th

This is OYCA's 2nd annual summer camp. Around 40 kids are participating in our 8 week ( 2 sessions a week) OCA's Level II course. Last year's level I focused on basic fundamentals and this year's Level II illustrates deeper level of training in batting, fielding and bowling.

2012 SBCC 2nd Annual summer camp- June 4th to July 27th

This clinic is our 4th of 14 community centers. Around 90 kids, 7 staff members participated in our clinic. A small sized cricket play area was set up right in front of 10 minute power point presentation to explain the basic fundamentals and differences & similarities between baseball and cricket. A group of 16 played a match and demonstrated a lot of enthusiasm and interest in the game. OYCA presented a free cricket set to the Community center.

2012 Mockingbird Hills Comm ctr Recs kids clinic (3rd of 14 community centers) attracted around 120 kids and 6 staff members in a 3 hour clinic. OYCA Presented a free cricket set to the community center

Around 80 kids,5 staff members participated in our outdoor clinic. We noticed few kids who didn't want to play in the beginning fighting for the spot in the middle of the session. We were glad that kids loved the game and OYCA presented a free cricket set for them to play in the summer.

2012 Adams Comm Ctr Recs kids clinic (2nd of 14 comm ctrs)- June 5th

2012 Aldrich Elementary School cricket clinic was held on their Olympic day celebrations. 20- 30 kids attended 20 minute sessions totaling around 600 kids, 14 teachers and several parents from morning to evening. Honorable mayor of omaha Jim Suttle spent 10 to 15 minutes watching one of our sessions.We were talk of the school for the next few days.

2012 Elkhorn Comm ctrs staff training clinic was attended by 50 staff members belonging to Omaha's all 14 community centers. The intent is to train the staff before reaching out to kids. Staff loved the game.

2012 Elkhorn Comm ctrs staff training- May 20th

Omaha Cricket Association/ Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted eight 50 min break out sessions (clinics) for groups of 80-100 kids/session and 14 coaches, totaling more than 700 kids at Kirn Middle school, Council Bluffs on their Fitness fair today. Heisman Johnny Rodgers was there for the Occasion. We were covered by channel 7 TV coverage once again. Our counter ( No. of students coached) is already close to 1000, Last year we did more than 2000 and we hit 1000 already in the first month.

St.Columbkille Middle school, Papillion, NE clinic was attended by 120 middle school kids and 8 staff members on a beautiful sunny day outdoors. Our cricket was a part of their annual field day, Kids had a blast.

2012 Yates Community Center cricket clinic was conducted to around 60 kids, 100 adults from refugee families of Bhutan, Nepal, Sudan on their annual day to celebrate their culture. OYCA was glad to be part of it. 3 Teachers from Omaha public schools are also present in our clinic.

2012 Yates Community Center Clinic- May 12th

Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted a cricket clinic on Apr 30th from 8:00am to 2:00pm at St.Bernards Catholic School. There were 3 sessions for under 8(90kids), 9- 12 (66 kids), 13+ (35 kids). The school sent thank you letters and testimonials and promised that they will include cricket in to their P.E Curriculum very soon.

Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted a cricket clinic for all City Community center supervisors (16), and City management officials(3) on April 19th 2012. This Summer OYCA is conducting clinics to entire staff (143 staff) in May and visiting all the community centers (14) in June, July and Aug to teach about 1500 kids.

Omaha Youth Cricket Association (OYCA) organized a cricket camp for 40 Cub Scouts and 12 parents+teachers at St.Bernard's.

Omaha Cricket Club and the newly formed Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted their 6th Annual Challenger Series on August 27th 28th September 10th and 11th at the Levi carter Park grounds. Banquet followed which involved some ethnic food and cultural progams accompanied by raffle drawings, prize giveaway.

2011 OCC Challenger Series

OYCA/OCC Conducted a 7 week ( 2 days/week) summer camp for 58 students for the age groups under 7 (Colts), 7-10 ( Broncos) and 11+ ( Mustangs). After the camp OCC conducted a tournament and also presented the students with OCC level I training course certification. This event was a grand success with more than 50 parents participating in it. We received dozens of calls from parents asking for our next edition..

2011 OCC/OYCA Summer Camp

Omaha Youth Cricket Association and Omaha Cricket Club conducted couple of events "How to Play cricket / Rec's Kids Club House" and "The story of cricket / One world Many stories" at Saddlebrook community center, Saddlebrook Elementary school and Omaha Public library. 100 Students from community center, 80 students from the school and 15 students from Library participated along with 15 teachers.

OCC conducted a cricket camp for 20 paypal officials keeping their children in our mind. The intended outcome is to train communities to play the sport and also coach them to teach their friends and families. This camp was conducted on sep 8th 2011.

OCC/OYCA conducted a 2-day cricket camp with 11 classes on oct 24th and 25th 2011. Each class consisted of 25-30 students (around 350 students in total) and 5 P.E coaches attended the camp. Bhaskar Krishna, Vijay Yajjala and Dean Thompson from OCC/OYCA conducted these classes as a guest P.E teacher at this high school and Westside district has 12 more schools to go.

Omaha Cricket Club/ Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted Cricket Clinic for the Students at St.Mathews Catholic school and church, bellevue, NE on Sep 27th 2011. Nearly 120 kids and 3 teachers attended and enthusiastically participated in the event. After the clinic, more than 10 teams were formed and played cricket. The event was a great success and the kids were fast learners.

Omaha Cricket Club/ Omaha Youth Cricket Association conducted a cricket clinic for more than 40 kids at prairie Hills community of Christ school on sep 26th 2011. After the clinic, kids formed 4 teams, played and had fun outdoors playing cricket.

Omaha Youth Cricket association/ Omaha Cricket club conducted a cricket clinic for more than 80 kids and parents on May 7th at Bellevue lied center. Youth sports day was comprised of demonstrations from various athletic clubs and attracted several kids/schools and Coaches/P.E teachers in Omaha and Bellevue regions. After the demonstration, Omaha Cricket Club conducted a couple of cricket matches for the kids. The event was a grand success!!

2011 Youth Sports Day

Omaha Cricket Club conducted Cricket Clinic for the Students at Brownell-Talbot School on April 8th 2011. Nearly 250 kids and 30 teachers attended and enthusiastically participated in the event. After the clinic, 4 teams played 2 matches and they surprised us with their tremendous performance. The event was a great success.

On the draft day, after a very delicious BBQ lunch, Ex-OCC members came down to play a match and pass on the cricket tradition to the current OCC players. Even the next generation cricket players (kids) participated on this day.
